I-20 improvement project focus of Bossier City meeting

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Developement will host a public meeting concerning I-20 improvement project in Bossier City.

The meeting will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Road.

Government auctioning off pair of classic military trucks

Two vintage military trucks now at Barksdale Air Force Base will go to the highest bidder. The Department of Defense hopes some collectors will bid on the trucks, a 1952 Air Force ambulance and a 1957 Air Force fire truck.

Both vehicles were purpose-built for the Air Force. Currently they're part of BAFB's Artifact Collection. Bids for the vehicles will start at $150.

The 2nd Annual Asbury Motor Club Chili Cookoff will run from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 3200 Airline Drive in Bossier City.

BPD to block some streets during Parkway HS Homecoming Parade

The Parkway High School Homecoming Parade will roll through the Shady Grove neighborhood from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 27.

Bossier City Police will block off several streets near Elm Grove Elemetary for the parade.

The parade route will start at Elm Grove Middle School and travel north on Van Deeman Street to Shady Grove Drive, west to Parkway Drive and then south on Parkway Drive to the parking lot of Preston Crownover Stadium, home field of the Parkway Panthers football team.

Hamilton Road still closed after water main break

Crews with the Bossier City Utilities Department have finished repairs on a broken water main, but Hamilton Road will stay closed a few more days.

Bossier City Spokesman Mark Natale said crews repaired the broken main late Monday night, but now they must repair Hamilton Road.

Workers will pour the concrete on Tuesday, then it will need to cure for a few more days before the road will reopen.

The closure is in the 800 block of Hamilton Road just north of Scott Street.

The Bossier Parish Police Jury says the Dogwood Trail Bridge has reopened. The bridge sits between the Dogwood Trail and Stockwell Place subdivisions. Parish Administrator William Altimus says  the bridge was closed because it needed emergency repairs.

Checkpoint catches several people driving with no seat belt

Forgetting to buckle their seat belts will cost several drivers after Bossier City Police cited them during a safety checkpoint on Wednesday.

Police set up the checkpoint between 2 - 6 p.m. in the 100 block of John Wesley Boulevard specifically looking for drivers and passengers not wearing their seat belts.
