MoJo's sponsors 'Throw Me a Bone' dog park fundraiser

MoJo's Nightclub in downtown Shreveport is the site of an on-going effort to keep the Shreveport dog park effort alive.

The Shreveport Dog Park Alliance is holdng a "Throw Me a Bone" fundraiser at MoJo's starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Donations at the door will go to the Dog Park Alliance.

‘Stars, Guitars & Animals from Mars’ to reign at pet parade

Thousands of pets and their owners, dressed in their Mardi Gras finest, are expected to converge on Shreveport’s downtown riverfront for the annual Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Pet Parade on Sunday, Feb. 3 at RiverView Park, 601 Clyde Fant Parkway.

Activities begin at 1:30 p.m. and the parade starts at 3 p.m. This year’s theme is “Stars, Guitars & Animals from Mars.” Prizes will be awarded for Best Float, Pet/Owner Look-A-Like and Best Dressed contests, with judging from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The royal court of pets will be presented at 2:30 p.m.

Bossier City Animal Control and Hand-in-Paw will hold their annual rabies vaccination clinic and Bath ‘n Dip Day event Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Bossier City Animal Control, 3217 Old Shed Road. 

During the event local veterinarians will provide $5 rabies vaccinations and $5 flea dips for dogs and cats. Only cash will be accepted as payment.

A dog was claimed by its owner on Monday after it was found on Airline Drive Sunday night around 10:00 p.m. near the intersection with Greenacres Boulevard.

Pups abandonded in Bossier City find good homes

Nine Shepard-mix puppies were found abandoned Wednesday morning alongside Shed Road near I-220. A concerned citizen found the two boxes with the puppies and called police.

Police came and took the puppies to Tinsley Park near the city's animal shelter.
