Seven Bossier City Police officers promoted

Bossier City Chief of Police Shane McWilliams today announced the promotions of seven police officers. Family, friends and department personnel joined Chief McWilliams as the officers were promoted during a ceremony Wednesday morning held in the Bossier City Council Chambers at 620 Benton Road.

Some Carriage Oaks residents are trying to put a stop the rezoning of a vacant lot at the entrance of the subdivision that would allow the construction of a Fred's Super Dollar store.

The lot sits at the corner of Shed Road and Hickory Ridge Drive, which serves the front entrance and main access to and from the residential neighborhood near Stockwell Elementary School.

Several residents are asking their neighbors to sign a petition to stop the rezoning, out concern it will cause excessive traffic congestion.

Members of the Fellowship United Methodist Church in Bossier City invite the public to attend a meeting Tuesday night to become better informed about propositions scheduled to be voted on Saturday, Apr. 21st.

Of the items Bossier Parish voters are expected to vote on Saturday, Bossier Parish School Board's two millage propositions. The millages if approved by voters will allot funds to improve Bossier Parish public schools.

The open forum type meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.
