I-20 improvement project focus of Bossier City meeting

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Developement will host a public meeting concerning I-20 improvement project in Bossier City.

The meeting will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Road.

LifeShare Blood Centers has decided to make blood donors' life-saving good deeds go a little further: For every blood donation LifeShare Blood Centers collects on Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9, it will donate a food item to the Harvest Food Bank in Texarkana, Ark.

The deal pertains not just to Texarkana but also for the 70 parishes and counties with 3.7 million people that LifeShare serves.

The Bossier City Police Department welcomed three new members Thursday morning during a ceremony held at the police department.

"Going the Distance" St. Jude Fundraiser

Parkway High School Cross Country team is holding their third annual "Going the Distance" fundraiser at Preston-Crownover Stadium on Friday and Saturday.  The 24 walk/run is raising money to go to St. Jude Hospital.  According to PHS Cross Country coach Kent Falting, the team's goal this year is to raise $100,000 dollars.  In 2010, the school raised $20,000 and in 2011, the fundraiser improved to $30,000.  For more information on the event or to donate to St.

Memorial Day trash collection changes for Shreveport-Bossier City

Residential garbage and recycling collection schedules in Shreveport and Bossier City will change the week of May 28 - June 1, due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 28, city officials said.

Garbage and recycling normally collected on Mondays will be collected this week only on Tuesday, May 29.
