FEMA, Bossier Parish looking for public comment on new flood maps

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and Bossier Parish have created a preliminary flood map for the parish, and now they're wanting parish residents to voice their opinion on how the maps look.

The changes in the flood plain map will impact Benton, Bossier City and the unincorporated areas of Bossier Parish.

Bossier City gets top award for work in providing alternative fuels

Bossier City took top honors at the recent Louisiana Municipal Association convention. The city was awarded the LMA's Community Achievement Award for its work in developing and constructing the city's two alternative fueling stations. The award was in the Community Development category for cities with a population of 25,001 and over.

The City of Shreveport advises residents that residential garbage and recycling routes in Bossier City will change the week of  July 4th - 7th, due to the Independence Day holiday on Monday, July 4th.

Garbage and recycling that normally would be collected on Monday, July 4th will be collected on Tuesday, July 5th. While garbage and recycling normally collected on Tuesday, July 5 will be collected on Wednesday, July 6th.

Traffic to slow on Airline Drive for road work

Starting Tuesday, June 28 at 7:00 a.m., the Louisiana Department of Transportation will bring Airline Drive heading south down to one lane from Shed Road to I-220. The closure is to perform repairs to Airline Drive. The land closure should last about 10 days. DOTD appreciates your patience during the maintenance reminds you to drive with caution during the construction site and watch out for workers.

Major water main breaks, N. Bossier City residents affected

The Bossier City Utilities Department is working to repair a break in a major water transmission line that serves much of north Bossier City.

The break was discovered late Monday night and involves a 20” line, which according to the City of Bossier City is located near the railroad tracks north of the 3300 block of Shed Road.

As a result of the break many portions of north Bossier City are experiencing low water pressure Tuesday.

Lack of rainfall and high temperatures have created a lake environment of aquatic vegetation that is neither pleasing to the eye or nose for the residents, visitors and shoppers of the Villaggio. Large pods of algae, watergrass and underwater vegetation were taking a serene, calm six acre lake at the center of the Villaggio development and turning it into an unsightly vision to residents and visitors to the property.
