The Department of Louisiana Veterans of Foreign Wars honored two members of the Bossier City Fire Department this past weekend for their outstanding service to the citizens of Bossier City.
Steve Ford was awarded first place for the Louisiana VFW’s Outstanding Firefighter Award and George Craft was honored as the third place recipient in the category of Louisiana VFW’s Outstanding Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic Award.
Ford and Craft were presented with the awards on Saturday, Jan. 26, in Alexandria during the organization’s mid-winter state conference.
Ford has been a member of the Bossier City Fire Department since 1994 and currently serves as the department’s Chief of Special Operations and Safety. Craft joined the department in 2004 as serves on the fire line as a paramedic.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5951 in Bossier City nominated Ford and Craft for the annual awards. Both were selected from a pool of nominations submitted by VFW posts across Louisiana.
For winning his first place award, Ford’s name will now be placed in nomination for national VFW honors.
