BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - City of Bossier City administrative offices, including offices for City Council, will be closed Friday, December 23, 2011 and Monday, December 26, 2011 in observance of Christmas.

Also as part of the city's holiday observances, residential trash collection routes will change for the week of December 26th to the following:

  • Routes on Monday (Dec. 26) will run on Tuesday (Dec. 27).
  • Routes on Tuesday (Dec. 27) will run on Wednesday (Dec. 28).

State officials and Bossier City leaders to talk holiday security

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) – District Attorney Schuyler Marvin partnering with Louisiana Attorney General James D. “Buddy” Caldwell, State Representative Henry Burns and North Louisiana Law Enforcement Officials will hold a news conference Friday, December 9th to discuss church and school security during the holidays.

The conference will begin at 10 a.m. in the mayor’s conference room in the Bossier City Municipal Complex, located in Bossier.

The Attorney General’s office is expected to speak on school safety and security.

The Bossier City Police Department will activate its Armed Robbery Task Force for the 25th consecutive year when the holiday shopping season officially kicks off later this week.  Officers assigned to the Task Force will patrol businesses and shopping centers the day after Thanksgiving Day through the end of the year in an effort to prevent crime, particularly armed robberies.

Snappy Scrubs Car Wash will join over 1,300 other car wash locations across the nation in providing FREE car washes to veterans and current military service personnel with valid military identification.

It's all apart of the Grace for Vets Free Wash Program. On Friday, November 11th from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at 1900 Benton Road. Washes will be provided rain or shine.

The FREE washes are provided to honor and recognize those that have and are serving in the armed forces.

African-American C of C hosting Nov. Power Lunch

The Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce will host its November Power Lunch from 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8 at the Clarion Hotel, 1419 E. 70th St. The speaker will be Pam Atchison, Executive Director of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.
