The Bossier Chamber of Commerce says that sales for its upcoming community guide and membership directory are now underway. The guides are on target to print next summer, and will be distributed in and around the Chamber service area.

Toy drive set for dependents of deployed military service members

Because a number of dependents of military service members don't get to share the holiday season with their mothers or fathers, a Bossier Chamber of Commerce member is working to change that with a toy drive.

Victoria Wigley, an independent educational consultant for Bossier Chamber member Discovery Toys, is hosting a toy drive to give children a Christmas basket. The basket is a gift to show that the community supports deployed military service members and their families.

The market takes place on Saturdays from October 27 to November 17, from 8 a.m. until noon,  under the East Pavilion and tent in Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.

The Feist-Weiller Cancer Center invits runners and walkers to dress up in costume to "frighten" cancer at the Great Pumpkin Run for Research on October 27 at the Centenary College Gold Dome.
