Caddo Council on Aging to hold March for Meals event

The Caddo Council on Aging is proud to announce the 9th Annual March for Meals will be held at Noon on March 13 in Festival Plaza. The goal of the event is to raise awareness for the needs of area seniors.  

Mayor Cedric Glover and Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will serve as the VIP Grand Marshalls of the March for Meals and will be accompanied by Shreveport’s own Dallas Cowboy Morris Claiborne. Other March participants include the Byrd High School Marching Band and Cheerleading Squad, Byrd High School Concert Band, Shreveport City Council representatives, Caddo Council on Aging Board of Directors, and representatives from many organizations and businesses who support our seniors. In addition, area food and beverage vendors will be on-site for the event.

St. Jude Catholic Church invites vendors to the St. Jude Spring Arts & Crafts Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 20. 

All items must be handmade. No resale, import or kit items are allowed. Booth prices for this outdoor market range from $40 to $90. Vendors are responsible for their own displays, table and chairs and all exhibit tables must be covered to the ground. Set up begins at 7 a.m. the morning of the event.

New Horizons to offer free tax preparation

New Horizons Independent Living Center in Shreveport is offering free tax preparation and tax filing by a qualified and certified preparer.

The free service will be offered between January 30 and April 15 for household income at $51,000 and below. (The service is not available to those filing "Married Filing Separately. If filing "Married Filing Jointly," the spouse must be present at the time of the appointment.)
