Date set for Annual State of Black Shreveport summit | Business

The United Citizens and Neighborhoods group has set the date for its 2nd Annual State of Black Shreveport Symposium and Economic Summit from Friday, Feb. 15, to Sunday, Feb. 17.
The event kicks off with a reception focusing on "Honoring History Makers and Policy Makers." It will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on February 15 at Co-Habitat, 610 Commerce St.
The symposium continues with registration at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Riverview Hall. During the day, the summit will include workshops and panel discussions on subjects such as "Creating Business Opportunities in the New Economy," contract procurement and business financing, "The Coloring of Business," and "Marketing Your Small Business in the 21st century.
The summit concludes with a post-conference event, "Youth Learning the Past and Creating the Future," on Sunday, Feb. 17.
