The Barnwell Garden and Art Center is looking for volunteers for its quarterly clean up day for the Conservatory and patio areas. The clean up begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday March 17 at 601 Clyde Fant Parkway and is open to anyone interested in helping.

SLT sets audition dates for "The Sound of Music"

Shreveport Little Theatre is holding children and chorus auditions for their summer musical, The Sound of Music.  Auditions are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday, March 12 and 13, at 812 Margaret Place.  Auditions for adult singers and supporting roles are scheduled for 6 p.m. and auditions for the roles of the von Trapp children are scheduled at 7 p.m.  Principal roles are cast.

Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation's (SPAR) Country & Western Dance has been set for Friday, March 2 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at Southern Hills Community Center, 1002 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Music will be provided by the Red River Live Band. Dress up in your country & western finery and hit the dance floor. Everyone is invited and admission is free. Door prizes will be awarded. Pat Stinson of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and manager of the Red River National Wildlife Refuge will speak Monday, Feb. 27 about plans for the Refuge now that its Visitor and Education Center is open. The meeting is sponsored by the Friends of Red River NWR and is free and open to the public.

Centenary, First United Methodist choirs hosting free performance

The combined choirs of the First United Methodist Church and Centenary College will host a free special debut performance of James Eakin’s Flowers Over the Graves of War. The performance will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church. The church is located at the head of Texas Street in downtown Shreveport. There will be a full orchestra with the choirs and the performance is free and open to the public.

The Shreveport Little Theater is looking for folks to take the stage for their latest production, "Born Yesterday." Auditions for the comedy will happen at 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 12 and at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 13. Both auditions will be at the theater, located at 812 Margaret Place.

Bossier City church hosting musical on New Year's Eve

The African-American Fellowship Churches of the Northwest Louisiana Association is hosting its first ever Watch Night Service Musical. The program will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 31 at the New Zion Baptist Church, 2535 Barbara Street in Bossier City. For more information, you can call 746-0750 Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Funds raised from the program will go toward building a church in Africa.
