Painting with a Twist event coming August 5

The Center for Families is again hosting its Painting with a Twist event, which is from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 5 at Shreveport Studio, 1661 E. 70th Street.

You can support The Center for Families by painting your team colors and logo using a fleur de lis as a background.

Anyone wanting to attend needs to make reservations first. That can be done by going online to http://paintingwithatwist.com/shreveport or you may call 318-524-9928 Monday through Friday from 1-5 p.m.

The Inner City Row Cultural Arts Institute will host a Poetry/Spoken Word program on August 9 and 23. Both programs will begin at 7 p.m. The reading will take place at 2021 Martin Luther King Dr. Admission is $2.50.

Eight northwest Louisiana authors will sign copies of their books at the Remember in Shreveport-Bossier When  exhibit at the Louisiana State Museum, 3015 Greenwood Rd. Art & Horticulture camp coming to Barnwell Center

Friends of the Barnwell will have their Summer Camp Experience for kids 6 - 10 who want to learn and enjoy art and horticulture.

The camp, called "An Interactive Adventure through Art & Horticulture", will run for one week.

The camp will be at the Barnwell Center, 601 Clyde Fant Parkway. Pre-registration is required. All supplies for the camp are included in the $100 attendance fee.

SRAC to host regional art meeting on April 9

Shreveport Regional Arts Council will host the Regional LPA/LCA Meeting on April 9th at 9:00AM at the Red River Revel Office. It's located at 101 Crockett Street in Shreveport.

The meeting will discuss the latest efforts to support the Arts in Region 7 and the State of Louisiana and will convene two special interest groups, Artists and Arts in Education Professionals to deal with questions and the advancements of both areas of interest in our state.

Carol Anglin's troupe, Louisiana Dance Theater, will be joined by Orchesis Dance Company, Grambling State University, by Impulse Dance Theater, La School for Math, Science and the Arts and by students from Green Oaks Performing Academy in an annual series of dances called La Dance Alive! Peter Pan Players presents "I Am An Actor: Broadway Bound"

Peter Pan Players continues its 38th season with its annual funraiser show, "I Am An Actor." The show was created six years ago by PPP founder Isobel "Miz Iz" Rudy.

Performances are: 7 p.m. on March 16; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on March 17; and 2 p.m. on March 18. All shows will be at the Emmett Hook Center, located at 550 Common St. in downtown Shreveport.
