Bossier Arts Council to present pop art culture

The Bossier Arts Council is presenting an upcoming show featuring pop art culture. Pop art made its debut in 1950's society and has continued to morph throughout the years. Local and surrounding artists are encouraged to bring a variety of pieces influenced by the growing pop art culture.

The Pop Art exhibit will open March 1 and continue through April 2 with a reception at 6 p.m. on March 22.

Bossier women's advocacy group promotes "Women of Education"

The Commission for Women of Bossier City has announced its "Women in Education" effort as this year's theme for its annual Inspiring Women Week 2013. It will be held from Wednesday, March 6, through March 13.

Sponsored by the City of Bossier City, this year's celebration includes a kickoff breakfast, networking event, evening of pampering, painting at the Bossier Arts Council, self defense demonstration, internet crimes seminar and a Face Fair. 

The proceeds from this year’s events will benefit Northwest Louisiana Food Bank’s Back Pack Program and the Bossier Learning Center’s Adult Literacy Program.

Central ARTSTATION invites public to grand opening

Remember the old fire station at 801 Crockett St. in downtown Shreveport? Now, it's been renovated and houses an art space.

Central ARTSTATION is holding a grand opening of the new space between 4:30 and 8 p.m. today, Feb. 28. The renovation of this historic building will provide offices for SRAC’s administrative staff. Also, it also will act as a developmental space for artists and arts organizations with dedicated areas.

Booth prices for this outdoor market range from $40 to $90. Vendors are responsible for their own displays, table and chairs and all exhibit tables must be covered to the ground. Set up begins at 7 a.m. the morning of the event.
