Bossier City Animal Control hosts rabies vaccination clinic and dip event

Bossier City Animal Control and Hand-in-Paw will hold their annual rabies vaccination clinic and Bath ‘n Dip Day event Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Bossier City Animal Control, 3217 Old Shed Road. 

During the event local veterinarians will provide $5 rabies vaccinations and $5 flea dips for dogs and cats. Only cash will be accepted as payment.

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Parkway High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC will host the top flying "Ace" of the Vietnam War at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, in the school’s Auxiliary Gym.

Colonel (Retired) Charles B. DeBellevue became the first Air Force Weapon System Officer to become a flying "Ace" in 1972 and the war’s "Top Ace" with six MIG kills to his credit.

The Mardi Gras Krewe of Aesclepius and Raising Cane’s at Pierre Bossier Mall will be hosting a Mardi Gras Bead Recycling Drive.

The drive is scheduled for Saturday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Eight Air Force Museum Association is hosting their distinguished speaker series spring dinner on May 12th, at Eldorado Resort Casino.

The dinner will include a silent auction, dinner and a special guest speaker. The cost is $40. The auction begins at 6:00 p.m., and the dinner is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Dress is business casual.

The Fit for Life Sports Weekend takes place May 12-13 and will feature more than 20,000 athletes from around the world competing in a variety of sporting events throughout Shreveport and Bossier.  

Bodybuilding, strongman competitions and arm wrestling are just a few of the varying athletes and sports you will see competing at the Shreveport Convention Center.  

Admission is $20 per person at the Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday, May 12 and will give spectators access to all events throughout the day.

Nearly 800 5th graders in Bossier will graduate from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program at seven elementary schools throughout Bossier Parish from May 7 – 14.

Students from elementary schools at Waller, Princeton, W.T. Lewis, Kerr, Meadowview, Stockwell Place and Plantation Park will join more than 30,000 students who have successfully completed the D.A.R.E.
